Samples can be shipped in from anywhere in the continental United States, and results are issued as a Certificate of Analysis.

What we test

Testing for the questions your customers and retailers ask.

Each service page lists the analytes, techniques and products it covers. Not sure which tests you need? Describe the product and we will recommend a panel.

Pb · As · Cd · Hg — ICP-MS

Heavy metals

Lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury quantified by ICP-MS, with results you can hold against the limits your product has to meet.

View tests →
Label-claim assay — HPLC · UHPLC

Potency & assay

Does the bottle hold what the label says? Cannabinoid profiles, vitamins and botanical markers quantified against your label claim.

View tests →
TAMC · TYMC · E. coli · Salmonella

Microbiology

Counts of bacteria, yeast and mold, plus screens for E. coli, Salmonella and other pathogens that can make a product unsafe.

View tests →
Pesticides · Solvents · Mycotoxins — LC/GC-MS

Pesticides & contaminants

Multi-residue pesticide screens, residual solvents from extraction, and mycotoxins such as aflatoxins and ochratoxin A.

HPTLC · FTIR · Microscopy

Identity testing

Confirms an ingredient is what the supplier says it is, and catches substitutions and adulteration before they reach production.

How it works

From request to report in four steps.

A simple, documented process so every result can be traced back to the sample you sent.

  1. Request a quote

Tell us the product, the tests you need and how many samples. We confirm the methods and price.

  2. Ship your samples

Pack the samples with a completed submission form and send them to our Cincinnati lab.

  3. Analysis

Samples are logged, prepared and run with quality-control checks in every batch.

  4. Receive your CoA

Results are reviewed and issued on a Certificate of Analysis you can share with customers.

Why an independent lab

Results from a lab with no stake in the answer.

A Certificate of Analysis from an independent lab carries more weight with retailers, marketplaces and customers than numbers from a supplier or manufacturer.

  • Clear reports. Every CoA states the method, the limit of quantitation and the result, so anyone reading it can tell what was tested and how.
  • Quality control in every batch. Blanks, calibration checks and spiked samples run alongside your samples.
  • Help choosing tests. We recommend panels based on your product and the market you sell into, so you do not pay for tests you do not need.
  • Based in Cincinnati. Centrally located for shipping from anywhere in the continental United States.

What is an analytical testing lab?

An analytical testing lab measures what a sample contains: whether an ingredient is what it claims to be, how much of an active compound is present, and whether contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticide residues or microbes are there. A product lab tests goods and the ingredients that go into them. That is different from a clinical lab, which tests blood or other patient samples.

Each result is a number with units, tied to the method used and the lowest level that method can measure, so it can be compared with a label claim, a buyer's specification or a regulatory limit.

Which rules shape what a product needs tested?

  • Dietary supplements: FDA's supplement manufacturing rule, 21 CFR Part 111, requires manufacturers to set specifications for identity, purity, strength and composition, to verify the identity of each dietary ingredient before use, and to confirm finished batches meet their specifications.
  • Foods: 21 CFR 101.9 sets how the values on a Nutrition Facts panel are checked against what the product actually contains.
  • Hemp: USDA's hemp production rules govern THC testing of the crop, and each state sets its own rules for finished hemp and CBD products.
  • California: Proposition 65 requires a warning when a product exposes consumers to listed chemicals, such as lead, above set levels, so many brands test heavy metals before selling there.

Send the limits that apply to you with your samples and the report will show whether each result meets them.

Questions about this page

Should I test raw materials or the finished product?
Usually both, at different points. Identity testing on incoming ingredients catches substitution before production, and supplement makers must verify the identity of each dietary ingredient under 21 CFR 111. Finished-product testing then checks label claims, heavy metals and microbiology on what customers actually buy.
What kinds of samples can an analytical testing lab receive?
Verified Analytical Laboratory receives capsules, tablets, gummies, powders and liquids, hemp extracts and edibles, food ingredients and finished foods, and process, source or bottled water. Contact the lab before shipping anything regulated, flammable or hazardous, since some materials need special packaging or cannot be accepted.
